Pariaman (ANTARA) - Talao Pauh in the City of Pariaman, W Sumatra has become a tourist attraction with the concept of a waterfront city crowded by millennials for selfies.
"Talao will become a new tourist attraction in Pariaman that will be of interest to tourists," said Pariaman Mayor, Genius Umar in Pariaman on Wednesday.
On normal days dozens of tourists visit the Talao, but the visit increases to hundreds on weekends.
Talao Pauh is in the form of a small lake developed with the concept of a waterfront city whose development funds from the central government amounted to Rp8.3 billion.
In the middle of the Talao Pauh there are two bridges that connect the two sides of the lake so that tourists can walk on it and take pictures.
Talao Pauh is surrounded by walking tracks that can be used for jogging to support sports tourism in the City of Pariaman.
Not only that, there are also a number of gazebos that function as a place for visitors to rest.
He said the region would get assistance from the central government worth Rp18 billion to continue the development of waterfront cities in Talao Pauh and Batang Piaman.
He asked the village government and local residents to help maintain cleanliness and security at the Talao Pauh location so that tourists are comfortable visiting.
"At the moment we are focusing on building Pariaman City as a waterfront city which is one of the locations in Pauh Village," Genius Umar said in Pariaman on Monday.
He said the construction had been going on since a few months ago, and was targeted for completion by mid-December 2020.
