Payakumbuh promotes duck race to Brunei Darussalam tourists

Payakumbuh (ANTARA) - The Government of Payakumbuh, W Sumatra promoted the traditional sport of duck race sports to foreign tourists through a visit of the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) to Brunei Darussalam to the area.

Chairperson of Dekranasda Henny Riza Falepi at Payakumbuh said Saturday that a visit the Indonesian Embassy Brunei Darussalam is expected to introduce the tourism and culture that Payakumbuh has in the country.

The visit of the Indonesian Embassy in Payakumbuh there were a number of places they visited, including visiting the traditional village of Kaliki Koto Nan Gadang hall, randang center, and duck race sport in Sicincin Sub-District, South Payakumbuh District.

There were three representatives from the Indonesian Embassy in Brunei who participated became the jockey at duck race. According to them this was the first time they felt, because duck race only existed in Payakumbuh and Luhak Limopuluah.

"We hope that the visit of Payakumbuh can promote tourism and cultural sites that are owned by Payakumbuh," he said.

While the Head of the Youth and Sports Tourism Office (Disparpora) Payakumbuh City Andiko Jumarel said to boost tourist visits to Payakumbuh is through events, attractions and culture that grows from the community.

Then to attract a visit to Payakumbuh also through sports activities or sport tourism.

"One of the sport tourism that has been held in the City of Payakumbuh was Payakumbuh Run, the competition is open to all groups and divided into several categories," he said
