Padang (ANTARA) - The Government of W Sumatra Province plans to start implementing Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) on April 22, 2020 after the socialization process is carried out to the public so that they understand the concept to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The PSBB will begin on Wednesday (4/22) but it will be confirmed after the governor's coordination meeting with the regents and mayors on Monday (4/20)," said W Sumatra Governor Irwan Prayitno in Padang on Saturday.
Although the implementation is still a few days away, he said, the socialization should start since this Saturday by utilizing all media, both social media and outdoor media.

Especially for outdoor media, he said, will be installed in border areas so that people who want to enter W Sumatra understand the implementation of the PSBB concept.
Irwan said that he would issue various regulations, and guidelines so that the PSBB could be carried out properly.
"We hope that the PSBB will run effectively and be able to break the spread of COVID-19 in W Sumatra. The key of PSBB is to limit the movement of people and to stay at home," he said.
He appealed to the public to obey what was said by the government by staying at home and going out only for urgent purposes.

He said the number of nomads who entered W Sumatra from March 31, 2020 to April 17, 2020, recorded 91,847 people .
Some of them can obey for independent isolation for 14 days, but there were some of them were still not obey and still go to the shops and markets.
"Those who are ignorant are one of the complicated problems that we also face. Hopefully this PSBB can be effective in breaking the chain of COVID-19 distribution," he said.
