Payakumbuh (ANTARA) - The Government of Payakumbuh City, W Sumatra, will develop a digital-based tourism sector to increase tourist arrivals to the area.
Payakumbuh City Head of Youth and Sports Tourism Andiko Jumarel at Payakumbuh said on Thursday that in the era of digitization the role of guides has begun to be marginalized.
"At this time is needed digital or google access to promote tourist attractions in Payakumbuh and no need to use the services of a guide anymore, "he said.
"For example, the Ngalau Indah Payakumbuh attraction, if the tourist object is already in Google, people will know what the object is like, and we must aim in that direction," he added.
Not only the promotion of natural attractions, one of the efforts to attract and increase tourist visits to Payakumbuh also by holding tourism events.
One of the events held in the near future is the Payakumbuh Botuang Festival, located at Panorama Ampangan, South Payakumbuh District, which will be held on 7-8 December 2019.
He said the introduction of attractions through digital will be synchronized or combined with the existing SME products in Payakumbuh.
According to him, the increase in tourist visits could have an impact on economic growth in the community and also Regional Original Revenue from the tourism sector.
"One of our goals to increase tourist visits to Payakumbuh is to improve the community's economy, as well as local revenue," he said.
