Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - PT Telkom will build a Marine Cable Communication System (SKKL) which is the installation of fiber optic network from Padang to Tua Peijat, Mentawai Islands to speed the internet access.
"The development plan will be done in the fourth quarter of 2018," General Manager of West Sumatra Telkom, Sulkan stated in Padang, Wednesday.
Currently the internet network for Mentawai can only be enjoyed in the area of Sipora Island. And even then, there are still complaints from the community because internet is slow or discontinuous.
Networks that have not been maximized due to connections which still use radio networks. They have not been too stable and vulnerable affected by weather conditions.
The solution is building SKKL for a faster data transfer.
SKKL in the form of fiber optic network under the sea along 157 kilometers will later be equipped with a large tower in Sipora Island.
The big tower will then emit signals through radio networks for internet on other islands.
"We immediately create a master plan for development in that direction," he added. (cha)
