Padang (ANTARA) - The implementation of the Large Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) in W Sumatra was extended to May 29, 2020 so that people will celebrate Eid al-Fitr 1441 Hijri during the PSBB period.

"We have a meeting with the regents and mayors. All agreed that the PSBB would be extended to 19 May and could be extended again until 29 May 2020 if conditions had not recovered," W Sumatra Governor Irwan Prayitno said on Tuesday.

The extension of the PSBB will continue to enforce and affirm the rules in accordance with the Minister of Transportation Regulation No. 25 of 2020 and the Minister of Health Regulation No. 9 of 2020

One consequence is that no one vehicle will be able to enter or exit W Sumatra until the PSBB application is complete.

"For this reason, it needs the firmness of the boundary officers to prohibit all passenger vehicles entering W Sumatra and inter-city regency vehicles," he said.

Thus people who are outside the province but domiciled in W Sumatra will difficult to celebrate Idul Fitri 1441 Hijri in their hometown.

However, Irwan said there would be some leeway for regions that were in the green zone or without a positive case of COVID-19 in the second phase of the PSBB. Regencies / cities may adopt policies according to the local wisdom of each region for Friday prayers while still referring to the guidelines issued by W Sumatra Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) number 007 / MUI-SB / V / 2020.

At present there are four regions that are still considered not to be exposed to COVID-19, namely Limapuluh Kota, Sijunjung, Solok City and Sawahlunto.

W Sumatra Regional Police Chief, Inspector General of Police Toni Harmanto supports the extension of the PSBB in the area and will provide support for personnel in enforcing the rules.
