Head of Event and Attractions Section of the Padang Panjang Tourism Office, Beni Satria in Padang Panjang on Wednesday said the special interest tourism managed by Pokdarwis could be an option when filling the year-end vacation in the area nicknamed the Veranda of Mecca.
"The local government does not make a special agenda for the year-end holidays but there is self-help Pokdarwis, so there is another treat for tourists in addition to tourist attractions and culinary that already exists," he said.
River boarding was held by Pokdarwis, which has now developed into a company engaged in tourism with special interest in Emkave Creative with the community in Batu Limo.
Riverboarding on the river is carried out in Batang Singgalang Batu Limo which crosses two villages in Padang Panjang namely Silaing Atas and Pasar Usang.
The location of Batu Limo was chosen because it was a valley and in the past it was often the location of children playing water after school.
"With the track for 'river boarding' along approximately 250 meters, this sport can provide a challenge for young people who try it," he said.
Emkave Creative Chair, Jack Rizon said river boarding tour packages are provided for a minimum of 10 people at a cost of Rp 125 thousand per person and can be ordered through social media Instagram @emkavekreatif.
It guarantees security for tourists who enjoy the sport with the support of insurance and safety equipment.
"The fees paid by tourists to enjoy this tour package in addition to supporting safety, consumption, we also use it for the improvement of the area," he said.
According to him river boardinghas not been done much in W Sumatra. Through this sport, young people can spend their time off while enjoying adventure in nature while testing adrenaline.
