Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - Entering the second week of Ramadhan (fasting month) 2018, the price of flour from various brands in Padang Municipality, West Sumatra began to rise from Rp8,000 per kilogram to Rp9,000 per kilogram.

Based on observations at Raya Market Padang on Monday (May 28), the flour price began to rise in the last few days as demand increased as Lebaran Day (Eid al-Fitr) 1439 hijriah is approaching.

"It is started up. Maybe it aims for the preparation of making a cake before Lebaran," one trader, Hari (32) noted.

He said that the flour price increase is still normal and it has not been complained by the buyer so it does not affect the sales.

Meanwhile, Head of Bulog of West Sumatra Regional Division, Suharto Djabar said that there is an increase of wheat flour price in general market in West Sumatra because demand is soaring.

"Ahead of Eid, the activities of housewife to make the Eid cake increase, this is one factor that causes the price to rise but it is still reasonable," he said.

According to him, if the price of flour continues to increase, it is ready to conduct market operations because Bulog of West Sumatra still has 20 tons of wheat flour which deviated in warehouses in the district or municipality. (cha)
