North Padang Initiated English Village Program

Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - Padang Utara Sub-district, Padang Municipality, West Sumatra initiated a program of English Village centered in West Tawar Village as an effort to improve the ability of citizens in using international language.

"There is an Art Village located on the beach, the plan relates to children and teenagers around which will be facilitated to learn English regularly," Head of North Padang Sub-district, Editiawarman stated in Padang, Thursday.

According to him, the children and adolescents will be trained every day in English with an emphasis on spoken language by preparing 29 volunteers to be teachers of English.

Edi said that the English Village was officially launched in the third week of March 2018 to coincide with exhibition of used goods that was initiated by the art community of Padang State University students.

Besides, the program is also one of the development of tourism sector because of its unique location to visit.

Edi hopes the program can be useful because in addition to improve language skills, the area is expected to become one of the new tourist destination. (cha)
