Padang Aro (ANTARA) - Farmers from Solok Selatan Regency, W Sumatra Attila Majidi Datuak Sibungsu were confirmed as millennial farmer ambassadors and mainstay farmer ambassadors of agricultural development through a Video Conference by the Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo on Monday.
"This activity should have been carried out face-to-face in Cibodas, West Java, but due to the condition of the COVID-19 pandemic it was conducted by video conference," Attila said in Padang Aro, Monday.
He said the inauguration was carried out yesterday from 08.00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. through Video Conference and representatives from W Sumatra there are two people.
In total the Ministry of Agriculture confirmed that there were 67 millennial farmer ambassadors and mainstay farmer ambassadors of agricultural development who were inaugurated by the Minister of Agriculture and there were two from W Sumatra.
According to him the inauguration of millennial farmer ambassadors and mainstay farmer ambassadors are the first step in synergy to do even more real for agricultural development in Indonesia.
He urged farmers to work hard and be smart and unite measures for Indonesia's food security.
He mentioned, there are farmers who are already successful in cultivation but are constrained in the sale, and distribution of products.
It can be an opportunity for interested agricultural entrepreneurs because it opens job opportunities and helps farmers.
"Young people can be farmers or get involved in agriculture and it has really helped farmers," he said.
For example, cocoa, essential oil in Sawahlunto, and horticultural products in Solok, rice in all districts / cities has always been the target.
"I believe that with the creativity and participation of young people, West Sumatra's superior agricultural products will become famous," he said.
