Padang Panjang (ANTARA) - Ustad Abdul Somad, or known as UAS, expressed his hope that the Islamic Center Mosque in Padang Panjang, W Sumatra could become an icon of religious tourism in the Sumatra region.
"There are facilities and it is still being developed, all that remains is to fill them with useful activities," he said in a religion lecture at the Islamic Center attended by students and the local community on Friday.
UAS expressed his pride at being able to lecture at the Islamic Center and invites residents of Padang Panjang to be grateful for the existence of the facility by enlivening it.
The mosque prayer room was built without a pole so that it did not cause a break in the shaf and he felt more free to religious lecture because there were no worshipers covered by poles.
In addition, he considered the existing facilities of the Islamic Center is expected to be an invitation for tourists to come to the area to enjoy religious tourism.
"If you want to get a lot of luck, Padang Panjang residents should enliven this mosque which is the house of Allah," he said.
In his 60-minute lecture, UAS advised residents to maintain the reputation of Padang Panjang as an Islamic area by avoiding religious prohibited acts and always close to the mosque.
Padang Panjang Mayor, Fadly Amran expressed his appreciation for the presence of UAS in the region.
According to him the presence of UAS could be a spirit for local governments in developing Islamic education.
"We are here to focus on how Islamic education continues to develop. The presence of UAS is a form of encouragement for the government in developing Islamic education, "he said.
One resident from Silaing Bawah, Wina said that she came early to be able to listen directly to the lecture.
According to her the way to lecture UAS is easy to understand and the message delivered is easier to receive.
