Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - The mayor of Padang Municipality, West Sumatra, Mahyeldi Ansharullah said the region currently needs a lot of investors and community support to develop tourism.
"Clearly it is impossible to rely solely on the regional budget for tourism," he said in response to the pros and cons of the high cost of tagline of Gunung Padang in Padang on Sunday.
He cited the tagline which marked Padang at the top of Gunung Padang is evidence of investor assistance.
According to him with funds Rp6.3 billion, the purpose of tagline development is not merely as a tourist attraction but lure in other investments.
This means hooking one investor for other investors to enter.
"Many tourism investment opportunities in Padang and it could be consideration of investors," he added.
For example for the Integrated Tourism Area of Gunung Padang there are several plans that require investment, including the development plan of diorama at the beach that connects Gunung Padang, lodging, rides play on the beach and cable car.
Currently both through investment and local budgets have been built several objects such as Siti Nurbaya Garden, Muaro and Floating Mosque and the opening of the road from Nipah to Air Manis.
He said many investors can choose one of them to develop or build as a whole.
"Tourism becomes the fastest way to boost the regional economy, this is also the focus of government in Padang," he added. (cha)
