Pariaman (ANTARA) - The Head of the W Sumatra tourism office, Oni Yulfian said tourism development in Pariaman city needs tourism promotion support from various parties to be widely known to the public.
During a speech at the Pariaman City Tourism Ambassador 2019 election on Gandoriah Beach on Saturday night, he said "Pariaman is one of the main tourism development areas in W Sumatra,".
He said this because Pariaman has great potential which is not only from its geography, but also programs and policies made by the government and the participation of local residents.
He mentioned one of the tourist activities that can attract tourist visits to the City of Pariaman and supported by the participation of local residents, namely 'Batabuik' which is held annually.
Moreover, Pariaman also has a program to develop tourism such as 'water front city' which can add tourist destinations in the city
He said "The mayor tell me that he would build a culinary place on the banks of the river,".
However, he continued, the development and programs made by the Pariaman City government for tourism must be accompanied by tourism promotions.
He mentioned that one of the parties that could help promote the tour was the tourism ambassador whose election was held annually.
"This is not easy job because you have to understand various things," he said.
This is because tourism ambassadors can represent their regions to outside areas so that tourism ambassadors must have knowledge and understanding of their respective regions.
Meanwhile, Mayor of Pariaman, Genius Umar said that this year he was building a 'water front city' to add tourist destinations in the area.
"The hope is that the 'water front city' is also accompanied by the growth of small and medium enterprises," he said.
He said to increase tourist visits, he held various tourism activities including batabuik and the election of tourism ambassador.
He asked the tourism ambassador of Pariaman city to continue promoting culture and tourism in the area to the wider community.
He added that the development of tourism and the implementation of tourism activities accompanied by promotion can improve the economy of the community.
