Padang (ANTARA) - The story of a child with special needs named Mr. Imansyah Aditya Fidri (17) from Payakumbuh, W Sumatra, reminded productive even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Since he was born, he already has Down Syndrome or a genetic chromosome 21 disorder that causes developmental and intellectual delays," said Adit's parents, Mr.Emsyafri when contacted from Padang on Thursday.

According to Mr. Em, the COVID-19 pandemic did not significantly affect Adit's development because his family had provided a special place so that he was not bored and remained productive while at home.

His activities such as playing drum, gardening such as growing vegetables and flowers, fishing behind the house, and cooking cakes.

"We did choose to stay at home and not go anywhere during this pandemic. That was to keep him from the spread of COVID-19. Because he was very sensitive to his breathing," he explained.

He said, his youngest son was talented in the field of music. Even his talent in music has been seen since he was a child in playing drum instruments.

"Alhamdulillah, he was also often invited to play drum in various regions such as Padang, Payakumbuh, Bukit Tinggi, Depok, Malang, and other areas. Then he also won national level competitions," he explained.

Besides playing drum, he also likes cooking cooking cakes. Even, we have succeeded in developing it into a business in the field of snacks that began several years ago. The products ranging from peanut cakes, nastar, to chips," he added.

"I am grateful that God has given Adit to our family. With all its limitations he was able to show that he is an extraordinary child. In fact he was able to do something unexpected," he said.

He advised every parent who has a child with special needs to not to be ashamed and accept them sincerely.
