Sugar price increases to Rp 17.000 per kg at Pasar Raya Padang

Padang (ANTARA) - Sugar price at Pasar Raya Padang increased of Rp 15.000 to Rp 17.000 per kilogram.

A trader at Pasar Raya Padang named Yusdek in Padang on Tuesday said the sugar prices rose since two weeks ago.

“The sugar price has risen since two weeks ago and I do not know the cause,” he said.

He said further beside sugar prices, the Groundnuts price also increased of Rp 21.000 to Rp 22.000 per kilogram.

However cooking oil prices have been brought down to about Rp 11.000 per kilogram of Rp12.500 per kilogram, wheat flour price was down of Rp 7.500 to Rp 7.000 per kilogram.

“Some other commodity prices are still stable such as salt, coffee, soy sauce and so on,” he said.

Another trader at Pasar Raya Padang Ilma said the price of red chillies also rose to Rp. 40,000 per kilogram from previously only Rp. 36,000 per kilogram.

"Then the price of shallots also rose to Rp35,000 per kilogram compared previously to Rp28,000," he said.

However, he said the prices of several other commodities remained stable, like garlic price Rp40,000 per kilogram, green chilies Rp25,000 per kilogram , tomatoes Rp8,000 per kilogram.

Furthermore, egg trader said price of egg rose to Rp 43.000 compared to the previous price of Rp 42,000 per tray.

"The increase of egg prices has been going on since a week ago," he said.
