2019 students ready to break MURI's record of holding and playing talempong pacik

Batusangkar (ANTARA) - As many as 2019 Students in Tanah Datar District, W Sumatra, will break the Indonesia World Record Museum (MUI) holder of talempong pacik at the 2019 Minangkabau Enchantment Tourism event on December 4 to 8 December 2019.

"As many as 2019 people will hold and play talempong pacik in Istano Basa Pagaruyung on the event that has entered the 100 wonderful Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia," Head of Tanah Datar Tourism Office, Abdul Hakim said in Batusangkar on Saturday.

He said breaking the MURI record was aimed at preserving Minangkabau culture while still raising local culture and wisdom.

For this year, approximately 16 events or attractions will portray the 2019 Minangkabau Enchantment Festival with Minangkabau cultural marches, jamba processions, eating together, breaking MURI records to play the most talempong pacik.

Pagaruyung Expo, Minangkabau and Malay art performances (Riau and Malaysia), matrilineal festivals, pacu jawi attractions.

Furthermore, tourism photo exhibitions, coffee festivals, cultural dialogue, Van der Cappelen market, awards for journalists who write the most tourism and entertainment news for Minang artists.

He said besides preserving and promoting the charm of Minangkabau cultural tourism, the event also increased tourist arrivals to Tanah Datar and increased Original Local Government Revenue in the field of tourism.

While the Head of Tanah Datar Tourism Efrison added that breaking the MURI record at the Minangkabau Enchantment Festival was a differentiator, and it continued to elevate the culture and local wisdom of W Sumatra.

Like in 2017, the MURI record that was broken was the longest number of processions, and in 2018 the record that was broken was the highest number of 'kawa daun'.

"To break the MURI record this year by involving school children," he said.

He hopes through the festival can be increasingly accepted by the younger generation. Because according to him the younger generation will preserve it.
