Padang (ANTARA) - Lamang Tapai is one of the ancient foods which until now is still sold among the general public.
Lamang is made from sticky rice which is put into bamboo, then baked on a fairly large fire for two to three hours, while the ingredients are made of black sticky rice which is cooked like rice, but cannot be soft.
Along the KH Ahmad Dahlan Road, there were a lot of wrecks from the tapai lamob cart that looked deserted. Lamang Tapai enthusiasts are usually busy during the fasting month.
A merchant Leni (47) "for now lamang tapai enthusiasts are very quiet, because more and more children today are choosing ready meals rather than traditional foods such as lamang tapai."
For now there are more people who are more than 40 years old and above, bading teenagers now. Lamang Tapai enthusiasts are also not only from local people but also from outside such as foreign tourists.
For income earned, if there are a lot of enthusiasts from Lamang Tapai traders, they can get around Rp. 500 thousand, while at present, because enthusiasts are quiet, the income earned is Rp. 150 to Rp.
One portion depends on the request of the buyer, but the seller of the lamang around the area puts one portion of the long meal around 15 thousand with five pieces or six pieces of lamang.
Lamang Tapai traders in the area usually sell every day from 11.00 WIB to 18.00 WIB.
In the area not all sellers make their own merchandise, there are some merchants who resell other people's merchandise.
