Painan, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The selling price of gambier commodity from farmers to collecting traders in South Pesisir District, West Sumatra has increased by Rp5 thousand or from Rp30 thousand to Rp35 thousand per kilogram.
"The increase has been ongoing since early 2018, and it is quite encouraging," one farmer of gambier from Sutera Sub-district, Ikal (48) stated in Painan, Tuesday.
Nevertheless, the current price is not stable yet, because it can still fall back.
"We can only hope that the price will last even if it can be more expensive," he said.
Dodot (34), other farmers said the high price of gambier is currently not only encouraging farmers, but also its manufacture.
"So the increase in gambier selling price is enjoyed by all parties involved, ranging from farmers and forge to the collecting traders. (cha)
