Pariaman, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The price of cayenne pepper in Pariaman Municipality, West Sumatra in its traditional market today is Rp60 thousand per kilogram or decreased by Rp30 thousand per kilogram after Eid.
"The price of cayenne pepper is still relatively high, even during one week of Eid it reached Rp90 thousand per kilogram," Head of Industry Trade Cooperatives and Small and Medium Business of Pariaman, Gusniyetti Zaunit stated here on Thursday.
She said the price of cayenne fluctuated since one week before Eid began from Rp40 thousand creep up to Rp90 thousand and back down to Rp60 thousand.
In addition to chili, the price of chicken at the merchant level also increased by Rp2 thousand per kilogram or Rp26 thousand per kilogram one week before Eid.
The increase in basic needs price is triggered by several factors such as supply availabilities by farmers which are not sufficient consumer demand.
"Based on the results of price monitoring in traditional markets, the traders admitted that the supply has started to decrease since a few days before Eid," she noted.
Besides, the price of other necessities are still normal such as beef Rp130 per kilogram, red chili Rp25 thousand per kilogram, onion Rp22 thousand per kilogram and rice the best quality is sold Rp14 thousand per kilogram. (cha)
