Mt Kerinci New Route Must Be a Tourism Icon: Observer

Mt. Kerinci (Antara)

Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - West Sumatra tourism observer, Yulnofrins Napilus, said the new route to climb Mount Kerinci through South Solok must be a new icon of tourist attraction in the area.

"South Solok now has two tourism objects that have become icons, namely Kampung Adat Saribu Rumah Gadang and Batu Kapal Cave with the new path of climbing Mount Kerinci which has been approved. It must be a new icon of special interest attraction," he said when contacted from Padang, Friday.

He believes that the new path of climbing an active volcano that has a height of 3,805 meters above sea level will soon be famous, compared to other tourist attractions.

"The viral effects of special interest tourism, especially mountain climbing trails are faster than other destinations, not only at local and national level, but internationally," he said.

Thus, it takes the readiness of local government and people of South Solok in welcoming it. In addition to the readiness of infrastructure and human resources.

"Tourism is able to contribute greatly in reminding the economy of society, not only from lodging, creative economy, even in terms of guides and potternya," he said.

The new mountain climbing route in Kerinci Seblat National Park (TNKS) is different from other lines because it must pass through the Jungle zone or the core so that the number of groups must be limited to a maximum of 5 to 6 people who must be accompanied by a guide.

To enter the path, climbers must take care of conservation area permit (Simaksi).

Awareness of climbers in conserving forests and environmental hygiene should be a serious concern. "The ones brought up must be brought down," he said.

Society and local government must be able to build the emotions of the climbers, he added. (cha)
