Pariaman (ANTARA) - There have been 600 job seekers from Pariaman City, West Sumatra until August 5, 2020, which is an increase of about 100 percent from the previous year for the same period of around 300 people.

"The figure is based on the AK1 card issued by the service," said Alfian Harun, Head of the One Stop Integrated Service, Investment Service and Manpower of Pariaman City, in Pariaman, Friday.

He added that the increase was not due to the COVID-19 pandemic but precisely because of job opportunities from a number of companies, one of which was in the banking sector.

"The COVID-19 pandemic does not really affect the workforce in Pariaman because there are no large companies here," he said.

He said that in that area there were only small and medium-sized industries that could operate during the COVID-19 pandemic by making work schedules for employees during production.

He said the job seekers were mostly from bachelor and some were still studying using their Senior High School diplomas to apply for jobs.

These job seekers are registered through a national application and the requirements required in their process are not too difficult.

However, so far his party has not been able to confirm that the Pariaman residents who take care of the job seeker cards have already got a job or not because they have not reported themselves to the relevant agencies.

"Maybe they are already busy with their daily activities so they forget it or maybe because their awareness are still low," he said.

In fact, when they made the job seeker card, the resident was asked to report where he worked so that his party could find out about it.
