BKSDA Agam distributed 4.000 plant seeds for residents around the Maninjau Nature Reserve

Lubukbasung (ANTARA) - The Natural Resource Conservation Agency (BKSDA) in Agam Resort, West Sumatra distributed 4000 fruit seeds to residents around the Maninjau Nature Reserve in helping to improve the local community economy.

Head of BKSDA of Agam Resort, Ade Putra in Lubukbasung on Thursday said the fruit seeds are consists of Durian, Avocado, Guava honey, and Manggo.

“The distribution of the fruit seeds to residents we do on Thursday (8/6),” he said.

The seeds came from BPDAS Agam Kuantan Office. The seeds were distributed to residents who live around the Maninjau Nature Reserve, based on their suggestion.

The distribution of seeds to succeed the program of Indonesia planted, reduced community dependence on forest areas.

besides that to increase the local community economy because the next few years, the plants will bear fruit and can be sold.

"The sales of fruits will increase their income," he said.

With involved the custom community in monitoring the Maninjau Forest Reserve area from disturbance and maintaining the existence of the forest area in the form of institutional strengthening and local wisdom.

This program puts forward the functions of customary institutions and local wisdom in the local nagari or customary village.

"If there are residents who often do logging, it will be processed according to existing regulations," he said.
