Padang (ANTARA) - To welcome Ramadhan 1441 H, PLN Regional Main Unit (UIW) of W Sumatra through the Baitul Maal Foundation (YBM) distributed 5555 happiness packages to people affected by the COVID-19 outbreak in the W Sumatra region on Monday (4/20).
The package amounting to Rp1, 3 billion contains basic food that are distributed simultaneously.
YBM PLN is a foundation that accommodates and distributes zakat funds of PLN Muslim employees, whose salary is immediately deducted. YBM PLN UIW West Sumatra distributed 3755 basic food packages in Padang, Pariaman, Sicincin, Painan and surrounding areas.
A total of 500 packages for Payakumbuh, Limapuluh Kota and surrounding areas, 500 packages for Bukittinggi, Padang Panjang and its surroundings, and 500 packages for Solok, Dharmasraya, Muaralabuh areas. A total of 300 packages were also distributed to the community in Mentawai Islands District.
YBM PLN also synergized with Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) and Dompet Dhuafa (DD) to distribute the assistance. The symbolic handover process from muzakki to mustahik was carried out at the Regional Main Unit (UIW) of W Sumatra office by the West Sumatra PLN UIW General Manager Bambang Dwiyanto and the West Sumatra PLN UIW YBM Chair Afriman to two beneficiaries.
The remainder was handed over by PLN management to the villages to be distributed to the houses of the affected residents.
"In this precarious situation, PLN UIW West Sumatra want to help the community, especially those affected, through basic food packages from employee zakat funds," Bambang said.
The aid package contains basic necessities such as rice, oil, sugar, salt, instant noodles, herbs and eggs. PLN hopes the package can bring happiness to people who affected of Covid-19
One of the recipients, Silvia expressed her feelings of embarrassment when receiving the assistance. "Thank you PLN for being willing to help and care," Silvia said.
PLN hopes that the assistance can ease the burden of the community, so that they can carry out their activities well and can carry out worship in a calm and solemn time during Ramadhan 1441 H later.
