Padang (ANTARA) - Tour de Singkarak become a promotional event for tourism and regional MSME products. The promotional function is also felt by Mato Aia coffee when asked to be one of the UMKM "guest gatekeepers" at the finish line of the 2019 Tour de Singkarak Stage I at Istano Pagaruyung.
Many people came and asked about products sold by the original Batusangkar coffee business that had been managed with this modern concept.
Not many people think that there are original Sungayang coffee products, Batusangkar that can compete like Mato Aia coffee.
Coffee owner Mato Aia, Jefri said he started running a coffee business in 2017.
"At that time, not many coffee entrepreneurs with the concept of a modern cafe and processing method exist in Tanah Datar. Then gradually I opened a Mobile coffee shop business and then opened "shanties" in several locations, one of which was at Cindua Mato field, "he said.
Deputy Governor of W Sumatra, Nasrul Abit said the main function of the Tour de Singkarak (TdS) was indeed as a form of regional promotion in addition to being an international bicycle racing event. The promotion is mainly for the tourism sector which is the province's flagship in attracting tourists to come.
Supporting products such as culinary, handicraft to SMEs are also promoted as an attraction, one of which is coffee.
Coffee from W Sumatra has indeed been famous for a long time. Although it had faded because many coffee plants were stricken with disease and replaced with tea commodities, W Sumatra coffee rose again in the 2000s.
Coffee of W Sumatra is not only known by coffee lovers in Indonesia, but also the world.
Nasrul Abit hopes that TdS will continue to have a positive impact on regional tourism and its supporting sectors.
