Padang (ANTARA) - The Government of Padang City, W Sumatra, continues to carry out development to beautify the Gunuang Padang Integrated Tourism Area to attract visitors.
"Construction of facilities and infrastructure will still be carried out, this year a pedestrian and an attractive spot will be built to enjoy the atmosphere there," said the Head of the Tourism Office of Padang Arfian, Padang, on Sunday.
A pedestrian will be built at the Gunuang Padang KWT to the Seberang Padang Bridge.
He said the development had a budget of Rp30 billion, and is currently in the tender phase.
In addition to pedestrians, in the local area there will also be children's play rooms, parks, space for exercise, and green open spaces.
"The point is this development is being carried out in an effort to beautify the Gunuang Padang KWT in order to attract visitors," he said.
The government has now also established communication with potential local investors for the manufacture of cable cars.
"The cable car is planned to be made from Pantai Padang to Gunuang Padang," he said.
KWT Gunuang Padang is one of Padang's mainstay tourism in addition to Padang beach.
The area covers the Kota Tua area, Jembatan Siti Nurbaya, Gunuang Padang which is believed to have the tomb of Siti Nurbaya who is a figure from the famous novel by Marah Rusli.
Whereas in the Batang Arau tourist park, precisely at RT 04, there is a physical building of the ship sitting on the land accompanied by three-dimensional paintings.
That made the ship as if it were sailing in the middle of the sea.
Currently visitors who come to Gunuang Padang are increasing.
"Previously it was busy exercising on Saturday and Sunday, now almost every day. Residents usually start coming after 04.00 p.m, "said one of the traders in Gunuang Padang, Ayang (42).
