Padang (ANTARA) - The City of Padang Government along with the Central Government has disbursed a budget of Rp. 16 billion to fix the tourist attraction of Air Manis Padang Beach which is often known as the legend of Malin Kundang.
"Rp.16 billion consists of Rp.15 billion from the state budget and Rp1 billion from the city budget," said Mayor of Padang Mahyeldi in Padang on Saturday.
According to him, improvements were made to beautify the tourist objects that became the icon and the pride of the City of Padang.
"Therefore, the City Government of Padang requested the willingness of the people in the Air Manis Beach area and its surroundings to accept various changes for the better. This is also in the effort to equalize economic growth in the city of Padang, "he said.
He conveyed that tourists who usually visit the city of Padang usually feel incomplete and not satisfied if they have not visited the tourist attraction of Batu Malin Kundang, because this legend has gone global.
Mahyeldi said that the development will begin to make Air Manis Beach more beautiful and full of charm for visitors.
Previously, the chairman of the Association of W. Sumatra Tourism Travel Companies, Ian Hanafiah said that almost 98 percent of Malaysian tourists who came to W. Sumatra requested visit to two locations namely Batu Malin Kundang on Air Manis Beach and Buya Hamka's Birth House in Maninjau.
"In the past, because the only road was steep, it was difficult to fulfill because if you took the bus the terrain was too heavy," he said.
However, since there is a new road from Gunung Padang to Air Manis Beach access to Batu Malin Kundang beach is easier because the road is big.
One of the attractions that is a pity to miss when visiting Padang, is Air Manis Beach which is famous for the legend of Batu Malin Kundang.
In addition to seeing Batu Malin Kundang tourist attraction Air Manis Beach becomes a tourist destination for beginner surfers.
Air Manis Beach has multilayered waves that are rarely found in Sumatra so beginner surfers visit to surf.
In addition, Air Manis Beach also has an environment that is rich in tropical forests so that if it is revitalized it will become a center for tourist visits which is a pity to miss.
