Padang, W Sumatra, (Antaranews Sumbar)- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is scheduled to inaugurate Minangkabau International Airport train here, on Monday.
The Head of State would be accompanied by Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi during the inauguration ceremony, Zainir, spokesman of PT KAI West Sumatra regional division, said here, Monday.
The inauguration ceremony would not affect regular operation of Minangkabau Express railway which began operational on May 1, 2018.
The Minangkabau Express train serves passengers en route Simpang Haru Station-Minangkabau International Airport with 40 minutes travel time. In the way, the train stops at two stations namely Tabing Station and Duku Station.
The train serving 10 trips daily, has four carriages with a total capacity of 393 passengers.
The airport train in West Sumatra is Indonesia's third railway after the Kualanamu airport railway in North Sumatra Province, and the Soekarno-Hatta airport railway in Tangerang in Banten Province.
Indonesia has a total of 237 airports, and only three airports have been integrated with railway services. ***1***
