Solok Gov't Expects Mass Media To Promote Regional Tourism Sector

Solok, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The Government of Solok Municipality, West Sumatra expects mass media to become government partners by actively helping to promote the development of regional tourism through the news.

"There are many potentials of the region, especially in tourism sector. It will not be widely known if the press does not preach it, so that the government and mass media must be a partner that can help to publicize the development activities," Deputy Mayor of Solok, Reinier stated on the sidelines of technical guidance to increase the competence of journalism for journalists who held the PR department of Solok Municipality on Wednesday.

He said the press is a bridge that can link development information such as tourism, economy, sports, education to society.

Because it is impossible for an official to meet all the people to convey the information of the activities which are done.

So through the mass media, the information can be directly disseminated and people can know quickly.

Anything programmed and implemented by the government without public knowledge will not be maximized, because the purpose of development is community, he added.

Therefore the government and the press should be able to build a bridge a closeness and familiarity so that things that both parties want can be achieved equally. (cha)
