Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - The City Government of Padang, West Sumatra prepares various tourism events and festivals in welcoming the peak of National Press Day (HPN) in 2018.
"Of course many journalists from all over Indonesia will attend. It is Padang's opportunity to promote tourism and culture," Padang Mayor Mahyeldi Ansharullah stated, in Padang on Tuesday.
He mentioned several festivals that will be held, among others, Islamic book exhibition, cultural demonstration festival from 19 districts and cities in West Sumatra, a new culinary festival, as well as festivals "Saribu Suntiang" or a thousand Minang wedding dress.
Special activities Saribu Suntiang will be centered in the Raya Market fashion show on the road of Simpang Kandang to Permindo street.
In addition there will also be coloring contests and educational seminars involving kindergarten and Paud students as well as school students.
The activity he said, will be implemented through Department of Tourism and Culture and Department of Education.
Includes lodging preparation for guests when HPN has started now through coordination with hotel and restaurant entrepreneurs.
"We want to give a positive impression to hundreds and even thousands of journalists who attended, so Padang can spread well to the world," he said.
Meanwhile, Head of Tourism and Culture of Padang, Medi Iswandi said there is an important agenda of travel ahead of HPN in February.
For October, there will be Gowes Siti Nurbaya, in November there will be Tour de Singkarak and Qasidah Festival, December and January are Christmas and New Year holidays.
So far, he said, along with Communication Forum of Regional Leaders and other agencies have coordinated related to security, restaurant feasibility, number of lodging and condition of tourism infrastructure.
He hopes both HPN and other activities, Padang residents provide support, especially in maintaining cleanliness and security. (cha)
