Padang (ANTARA) - Andalas University Hospital (Unand Hospital) prepared 12 post isolation rooms designated as additional referral hospitals to assist in handling COVID-19 patients.
"For the care of COVID-19 patients placed in the basement of the hospital, there are 12 rooms that we have prepared, one patient will occupy one room," said Director of Unand Hospital Dr. Yevri Zulfiqar when contacted by ANTARA on Tuesday.
He explained, the placement of one patient in one room to anticipate transmission of COVID-19 to other patients, especially "patients under surveillance" (PDP) whose labor results had not yet come out.
Yevri further revealed, among the 12 rooms it also prepared a mini Intensive Care Unit (ICU), to take action to help patients with a decrease in physical conditions, such as breathless.
"In the ICU mini room, we will do temporary treatment, then we will bring to M. Djamil Padang General Hospital," he said.
In addition, Unand Hospital also prepared a special room for delivery for PDP or COVID-19 positive patients, but only for normal deliveries. While delivery room for caesarean section, his side cannot help because there is no anesthesia machine that is suitable for the room.
"This is being proposed for assistance from the provincial government, including the completeness of PPE for medical personnel," he said.
For medical personnel, Yevri revealed, there are 12 specialist doctors, with details of five internal medicine doctors, four pediatricians and three lung specialists.
"For nurses we have prepared 12 people, and have been trained to handle COVID-19 patients," he said.
In addition, he also prepared seven general practitioners who will be involved in handling COVID-19 patients at the hospital.
