Padang prepares for new normal era

Padang (ANTARA) - The Government of Padang City prepared for a new normal era which is planned to be implemented after the end of the third phase of the Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) on 7 June 2020.

"Entering the new normal era, we are gradually designing the reactivation of houses of worship, the tourism sector, trade and other sectors," Padang Mayor, Mahyeldi said in Padang on Wednesday.

According to him, after the new era was imposed, those in the green zone would still apply the standard COVID-19 protocol.

"We will announce areas that are included in the green zone and the red zone so that the people's economy will gradually recover," he said.

The mayor said that he would make new concepts and other reinforcement to help and move the economic activities of the community in the future.

Related to the transition period after the end of the large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) phase 3 on June 7, 2020 it is also preparing a Mayor Regulation.

At least there are seven sectors that will be discussed with stakeholders and academics, such as government, trade, education, tourism, transportation, social, culture and industry.

Mahyeldi hopes that the rules made will be more comprehensive and applicable so that everything is going well.

"This Mayor Regulation later will be strengthened by Regional Regulation. So there will be strict enforcement and sanctions in maximizing the handling of COVID-19 in the era of new normal life," he said.

On the other hand Mahyeldi conveyed that although there were quite a lot of positive COVID-19 cases in Padang, until now his side had succeeded in breaking 11 cluster deployments.

"The rest is Pasar Raya cluster which is being broken up and now has shown a decrease in positive cases compared to previous days," he said.

He said for the termination of the Pasar Raya cluster, the government was supported by all parties including the National Army and Police to discipline traders and visitors to continue to comply with the COVID-19 protocol.
