Padang (ANTARA) - Government of W Sumatra Provincial is preparing and reviewing the economic recovery program after the Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19).
"We are currently conducting a joint study with Andalas University to formulate economic stimulus program that appropriate for W Sumatra residents after the pandemic ends," W Sumatra Governor Irwan Prayitno said here on Monday.
According to him, it is targeted in July 2020 the program will be implemented and currently is still conducted data collection on the economic impact of COVID-19.
"Later, the program can be in the form of capital assistance or training ," he said.

Previously, Bank Indonesia of W Sumatra estimated that West Sumatra's economic growth would be around two percent this year as a result of the outbreak of COVID-19.
" In normal conditions the economy of W Sumatra can grow five percent, but due to the outbreak of COVID-19 down to two percent," said West Sumatra's BI Wahyu Purnama.
According to him the two percent figure is assuming COVID-19 will subside in June and July 2020 but if it continues it will make W Sumatra's economy down.
As one of the tourist destinations there are many sectors that are affected ranging from transportation, hotels, restaurants, trade to culinary.
In addition, all small and medium businesses related to tourism are also affected and cannot operate.
"There are even SMEs who turn their businesses into PPE producers to survive," he said.

He said this not only happened to W Sumatra but all regions affected by COVID-19 also felt the same way.
Especially since the implementation of the Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB), we hope it does not occur so long, he said.
He conveyed that to restore the economy, W Sumatra was very dependent on the Regional Budget (APBD) and the budget from the central government which was able to encourage economic growth.
W Sumatra's economy is still supported by government spending and household consumption, if the conditions back to normal it takes time to adjust to all sectors, he said.
