South Solok To Hold Thousand of "Rumah Gadang" Festival During TdS

Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - South Solok District, West Sumatra seizes the opportunity to host Tour de Singkarak (TdS) 2017 by holding a Thousand of 'Rumah Gadang' Festival to entertain riders and media coverage.

"Later, we facilitated the media to wake up to feel the sensation of staying at Rumah Gadang and enjoying regional cuisine specialties," Regent of South Solok, Muzni Zakaria stated in Padang, Wednesday (Sept 6).

South Solok certainly can be one area passed by TdS rider.

Previously, due to the damage of road, South Solok was estimated to participate in TdS.

"The opportunity that we get will be utilized well. Then by welcoming procession, local art and cultural attractions that are integrated with Thousand of Rumah Gadang Festival," he said.

With the support of media, according to him, the festival will be held for the first time and it is expected to become one of the leading tourist icon, not only for West Sumatra, but also for Indonesia.

Muzni praised the determination that Vice Governor of West Sumatra Nasrul Abit continue to strive for the area to be passed on TdS 2017.

Vice Governor Nasrul Abit said South Solok's assurance could be one of TdS hosts accepted after the visit of Minister PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono to West Sumatra on Monday (Sept 4) then.

In fact, Minister of PUPR expressed his desire to participate in grand TdS 2017 in Tanah Datar District.

Head of Tourism Office of West Sumatra Oni Yulfian said, TdS is planned to be held on October 10 to 18, 2017, then it postponed to November 18 to 26, 2017 for maximum preparation.

Grand start is in Batusangkar, Tanah Datar District, and finish in Bukittinggi City Tour.

"Related to our preparation for speeding, tomorrow, Thursday (Sept 7), we meet to ensure the route and spirit of commitment that became participants," he said.

According to the planned, Tour de Singkarak in 2017 will take nine stages which consist of first stage of Tanah Datar to the city of Padang with a length of 107 kilometers, the second stage of Painan-Sawahlunto along the 166 kilometers.

Third stage Muaro Sijunjung-Pulau Punjung is 100 kilometers, Stage four Singkarak Lake-Payakumbuh 135 kilometers, stage five from Harau Valley-Padang Panjang 101 kilometers.

Then the sixth stage is Solok City-Padang Aro South Solok 140 kilometers, seventh stage Pariaman-West Pasaman 157 kilometers, eighth stage Padang Pariaman-Agam 101 kilometers, and the ninth stage Pasaman-Bukittinggi with 90 kilometers circuit.

However, the stage is still possible to change according to the results of finalization meeting. (*)
