Lubukbasung (ANTARA) - Two Rafflesia flower type arnoldii bloom simultaneously in the forest area of Maninjau lake at Jorong Data Simpang Dingin, Nagari Paninjauan, sub-district Tanjungraya, Agam Regency, W Sumatera.
The Forest Ecosystem Controller, Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) of Agam Resort, Ade Putra in Lubukbasung, said Monday that each flower bloomed perfectly on the second day and on the third day with a diameter of 97 centimeters and 81 centimeters.
"The location of the two flowers blooms close to a distance of about three meters," he said.
The existence of the flower is an attraction for residents to visit closely.
"The location of the flower bloom is only 15 minutes from the Data Aia Gadang residential areas, Nagari Baringin, Palembayan Sub-district," he said.
He said there were two points of population spread of the rare flower and each one was only one hundred meters away.
To reach the location, BKSDA has installed directional signs, information boards and prohibition boards.
Previously, seven knobs rafflesia blooms . This is known from the results of monitoring conducted by BKSDA Agam Resort officers.
This location was found in 2018 and intensive monitoring and supervision began by the BKSDA.
Based on BKSDA records, there are 13 distribution points in the Agam Regency at the end of 2019 and are the largest in W Sumatra.
The Agam district government through the local Tourism Office plans to develop this rare potential by coordinating with BKSDA.
On January 1, 2020, the Rafflesia Tuan-mudae flower bloomed in the forest area of Maninjau Nature Reserve in Jorong Marambuang, Nagari Baringin, Palembayan sub-district with a diameter of 111 centimeters.
The Rafflesia Tuan-mudae flower became the largest flower in the world ever recorded and documented. This flower had caught the world's attention, at least more than 32 countries reported it.
