Lubukbasung (ANTARA) - The Department of Tourism and Youth Sports of Agam Regency, W Sumatra recorded the number of tourist visits to the area increased from 704,084 people in 2018 to 766,699 people during 2019.
"The increase in visits rose by 62,615 people compared to the previous year. This tourist visited 24 tourist objects in Agam, "said the Department Head of Tourism and Youth Sports of Agam, Syatria in Lubukbasung, Thursday.
He said of the 766,699 people consisting of 753,135 domestic tourists and 13,564 foreigners.
Whereas the previous year's visit of 704,084 people consisted of 690,913 domestic tourists and 13,171 foreigners.
"The number of domestic tourist arrivals increased 62,222 people and foreign tourists increased 393 people," he said.
In 2020, it targets tourist visits to the area to reach 1,000,000 people.
In order to achieve the target, he added, the Agam Regency Government has built tourism facilities and infrastructure such as Janjang Seribu, Linggai and others.
"This year we will fix up Bandar Mutiara Tourism Object in Tanjungmutiara District," he said.
In addition, the strengthening of human resources by providing training to guides and administrators of tourist attractions.
"We are preparing for the festival and hope with this activity the target of tourist visits will increase later," he said.
