In Pariaman there is Monkey coconut picking competition

Pariaman (ANTARA) - Monkey coconut picking competition is the agenda of the 2019 Festival Pesona Gandoriah which will be held by the Pariaman City Government, West Sumatra on June 29 to July 3, 2019.

"This is a unique event at this year's festival because tourists are usually sought after," said Head of Tourism Promotion and Cooperation, Tourism and Culture Office in Pariaman, on Wednesday.

He said this competition is unique because only exist in Padang Pariaman and Pariaman City so it is interesting to be appointed as a competition and tourist event.

This uniqueness can be a great potential to attract both local and foreign tourists.

"This uniqueness is what we sell to tourists," he said.

The competition will be held at Festival Pesona Gandoriah 2019 was the second time, while the first was held in 2015.

He added that the competition which is a collaboration between his side and the Pariaman Military District Command 0308 will be held on Sunday, June 30 at Gandoriah Beach

Previously, the Pariaman City Government scheduled to carry out the Festival Pesona Gandoriah 2019 on June 29 to July 3 by carrying out eight competitions to attract tourists to the area.

This festival is the fifth time we have carried out since 2015

Eight competitions are the Pariaman Satay culinary festival, the one-stop canoe competition, randai, tourist attraction photos, coconut climbing of Monkey, children's creativity, Gandoriah fiesta, and Minang song.

He said that for this year's festival held at Pantai Gandoriah, the total prizes provided for the eight competitions reached IDR 100 million.
