Rendang Village Has Dozens of Rendang Variants

Payakumbuh, (Antaranews Sumbar) - Rendang Village in Payakumbuh Municipality, West Sumatra has dozens of rendang (meat stewed in coconut milk and spices) variants which can be developed as a regional culinary wealth to attract tourists.

"Until now there are at least 30 variants of rendang," Official of Payakumbuh Government, Faizal stated in here on Saturday.

The variants of rendang such as rendang of eggs, beef, lung, chicken, potato, duck, wet mushroom, dried mushroom, jengkol, and cassava leaves, eel, tuna, leaves, pare, ferns, lokan, crushed meat, wet lung, fungus dates, corn, catfish, tilapia, cork, fish, shrimp, etc.

Nevertheless, Faizal remarked that not all types of those variants exist in Rendang Village.

Of the 30 variants, there are about eight variants that have existed and attracted many buyers.

Eight variants are rendang of beef, egg, lung, mashed meat, suir (chicken & beef), mushrooms, and Eels.

Eight variants can be found in Small and Medium Industry (IKM) which located in Rendang Village, among them are IKM Rendang Riri, Rendang Erika, Rendang Indah, Rendang Nan Keke, Rendang Yen, Rendang Yolanda.

Rendang Village is one of culinary centers in Payakumbuh which is about 180 kilometers from Padang. (cha)
