Pariaman, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The Government of Pariaman Municipality, West Sumatra continues to preserve the value of local wisdom such as folklore through storytelling competition at elementary school level equal to spur students' interest in reading.
"The storytelling competition deliberately raised and popularized the cultural story book that contains the value of heroism and character of the nation. It aims to recognize students related to nation identity," Head of Filing and Library of Pariaman Municipality, Nenmarni stated in Pariaman, Wednesday.
Besides, local government also targets to inform the best students who can do storytelling or tell about local culture in national event in Jakarta in the near future.
Specific matter of storytelling contest deliberately raised the local culture with the title of Anggun Nan Tongga. It hopes that the students are getting familiar with the history of Pariaman.
Meanwhile, Expert Staff for Economic and Development of Pariaman, Definal said the activity is one of the efforts of local government in raising the reading request of community, especially the students.
In addition, the activity is considered positive because it is able to equip students from bad relationships such as addictive devices, promiscuity and other deviant behavior. (cha)
