Padang Continues To Develop Tourist Attractions Potential

Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The Government of Padang Municipality, West Sumatra continues to develop the potential of tourist attractions which can be directly involved such as maelo pukek (pulling the nets) tourism that has become one of visitors attraction in the area.

"One of the trends that we have today is maelo pukek with the fishermen," Head of Local Tourism and Cultural Office, Medi iswandi stated in Padang, Friday.

According to him, tourists especially who come from foreign countries do not know how fishermen catch fish so that they can get such experience while travelling in Padang.

Besides, potential of tourist attraction in Padang that can be developed also consist of wearing traditional Minangkabau clothes and flying in the air with paragliding on hill of Air Manis Beach.

"There is also a tour in Kota Tua as the first civilization of Padang," he noted.

To support the development of tourism in Padang, the Department of Tourism and Culture continues to coordinate with Association of Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (Asita) which is currently available as well as a tourist bus for visitors every Saturday, Sunday and on holiday.

Every Saturday or Sunday visitors who use the facility reached 75 to 100 people," he pointed out.

The route is Cimpago Lake-Tugu Gempa-Kota Tua-Simpang Nipah-Gunung Padang-Pujasera-Tugu Merpati-West Sumatra Grand Mosque and back to Cimpago Lake.

"If tourists get off at one of these destinations, they have about two hours to travel," he added. (cha)
