Batusangkar, (Antara Sumbar) - A total of 900 thousand tourists visit Tanah Datar District, West Sumatra from January to November 2017.

Head of Tourism Office of Youth and Sports (Disparpora) of Tanah Datar, Edi Susanto in Batusangkar, Thursday, said the amount comes from domestic and foreign tourists.

"For foreign visitors dominated by Malaysian state followed by Australia and Europe," he said.

He mentioned domestic tourist arrivals from all regions in Sumatra and Jabodetabek for areas outside of Sumatra.

According to him, the target visit that has been set for this year is as many as 1,025,000 people and until the end of 2017 the number is expected to be fulfilled.

"From mid to late December there are many holidays and also added with the end of year holidays," he said.

In addition, he said the existence of Emersia Hotel which is a five-star hotel also helped support the increasing tourist visits to the area.

Similarly, Head of Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) Istano Basa Pagaruyuang, Ridwan said the visit to Pagaruyuang Palace is also dominated by Malaysian tourists to those from abroad. (cha)
