Padang (ANTARA) - A total of 19 thousand migrants came to West Sumatra on April 1-4, 2020 by land, despite the government's appeal not to return to their hometown until the COVID-19 outbreak was successfully controlled.
"As many as 6,051 people ccome by air and 18,565 people come by land. those who entered West Sumatra have been recorded by officers. The data was delivered to the destination district / city,"said Deputy Governor of West Sumatra, Nasrul Abit in Padang, Sunday.
He said yesterday there were also six flights that were scheduled arrived at Minangkabau International Airport (BIM).
The number of passengers is expected to be quite a lot because the aircraft being operated are a type of airbus that can carry 400 people.
According to him officers at the border or airport are the spearhead to check people from pandemic areas, especially if they have symptoms such as fever.
"If the data is not reported, it will be difficult to ensure that people who come to be able to comply with established health protocols such as self-isolation for 14 days.
He acknowledged there were findings of officers at the border who did not fill in the data as expected and even did not report. It has already been said and is expected to not happen again.
The obstacle faced at the border is there is no signals so that the reporting process is interrupted.
Meanwhile the West Sumatra Provincial Government with other local governments continue to maximize facilities for the treatment of "persons under monitoring" (ODP) or "patients under surveillance" (PDP) patients suspected of COVID-19.
At present in addition to M.Djamil Padang Hospital and Achmad Muctar Bukittinggi Hosprital, it also being prepared Padang Regional Hospital and Pariaman Regional Hospital and Unand Hospital to handle Covid-19 patients.
