Padang Panjang (ANTARA) - The Padang Panjang City Government, W. Sumatra, targets 660,000 tourist visits to the area nicknamed the Veranda of Mecca during 2019.

"In 2018 there were 590 thousand visits. Every year there is certainly an increase in the target of tourist visits, "Padang Panjang Tourism Service Head Hendri Fauzan said in Padang Panjang on Thursday.

He said a number of agendas had been prepared to attract tourist visits including several national agendas where Padang Panjang was appointed as the host.

"In the near future, scheduled for July 2019 there will be an Nusantara Culture Camp activity. Padang Panjang is believed to be the host to present scouting experiences for the children present, "he said.

Then the Minangkabau Silek Heritage event as a martial arts promotion event is held on 30 August to 6 September 2019, the Minangkabau Cultural Festival is held for one week welcoming the Hijri New Year.

Furthermore, the first event held in Padang Panjang was the Nusantara Crossing Competition on the third week of September 2019 for nature lovers held in collaboration with Nature Lovers Students of Andalas University.
