Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - Floods have damaged 138 homes in Pakan Rabaa Tangah, Koto Parik Gadang Diateh Sub-district, South Solok District, West Sumatra Province.

The flooding occurred on Thursday (Sept 14) at around 9 p.m. local time, Rusdi Harmen of the South Solok disaster mitigation office, remarked here, Friday.

Four villages -- Bancah Anak Lolo, Lolo Atas, Batu Kulambai, and Batang Lolo -- were affected by the natural disaster.

Of the 138 damaged homes, 42 incurred serious damage, six suffered moderate damage, and 90 were slightly damaged.

The floods affected 190 families comprising 571 people who are currently taking refuge on higher ground.

The local authorities have set up a pubic kitchen to feed the flood victims and a medical command post.

Numerous roads and several hectares of farming areas were also submerged by floodwaters. (*)
