Regional Head Election in W Sumatra Runs Safely, Smoothly: Vice Governor

Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - Vice Governor of West Sumatra Nasrul Abit said the implementation of Regional Head Election in four cities in the province runs safely and smoothly.

"There are no significant obstacles, everything is safe," he said after a long-distance video connection with Ministry of Home Affairs team at the governor's office on Wednesday.

The event was also attended by representatives of West Sumatra Police and related department.

A rather prominent issue was the removal of several polling stations in Sawahlunto due to heavy rain pouring down the city since Tuesday (June 26) night.

The transfer was escorted by the security forces, KPU and local Election Supervisory Committee and went well.

In addition, implementation in four cities including Padang, Pariaman, Padang Panjang and Sawahlunto relatively safe and smooth.

Nasrul also hoped that the election results later, lost or won, can be accepted well by all parties.

"Winning and losing couples should set an example for community to avoid division," he noted.

The elections in West Sumatra involve four cities with 12 pairs of candidates for regional heads.

In Padang, there are Emzalmi-Desri Ayunda which carried seven parties and Mahyeldi-Hendri Septa carried two parties.

Then, three pairs of candidates namely Genius Umar-Mardison Mahyuddin, Mahyuddin-M Ridwan and Dewi Fitri-Pabrisal in Pariaman.

There are four pairs of candidates in Padang Panjang namely Hendri Arnis-Eko Furqani, Mawardi-Taufik Idris, Rafdi Meri-Ahmad Fadly and Fadly Amran-Asrul.

Meanwhile people in Sawahlunto choose between three pairs of candidates namely Ali Yusuf-Ismet Deri Asta-Zohirin Sayuti and Fauzi Hasan-Dasrial Ery. (cha)
