Agam Predicts Beef Cattle Transaction Value To Reach Rp9.47 Billion

Lubukbasung, (Antaranews Sumbar) - Agricultural Service of Agam District, West Sumatra predicts the transaction value of beef cattle before Eid al-Fitr 1439 Hijriah in the area will reach around Rp9.47 billion.

Implementer tasks of Agam Agriculture Agency, Arief Restu in here on Thursday said the velocity of Rp9.47 billion is derived from the prediction of 526 slaughtering cows before Eid in the area.

"This is our annihilation if one cow can be at a price of Rp18 million," he said.

He detailed that 526 cows were spread in 130 cows in Lubukbasung Sub-district, 108 cows in Tanjungmutiara and 19 cows in Tanjungraya 19.

While there are 12 cows in Matur, 109 cows in Ampeknagari, 128 cows in Palembayan, 10 cows in Ampekkoto and 10 cows in Palupuh.

He said the slaughter of cows before Eid is a tradition of community in Lubukbasung, Ampeknagari, Tanjungraya, Palembayan and others.

Besides, after the cows are slaughtered and cleaned, the meat is shared and there is sold to the market.

"This is a tradition from generation to generation one day before Eid," he said.

Related to the supply of cattle, the current supply is sufficient because the population of beef cattle in the area reached 33,863 cows and 21,519 buffaloes.

The amount does not include data of imported cattle from Australia in the Slaughterhouse of Lubukbasung at number of 12 cattled with a weight of 400-500 kilograms for each. (cha)
