Chili, Onion Prices in Padang Pariaman Decreased

Parit Malintang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The price of chili and onion in the traditional market of Padang Pariaman District, West Sumatra has declined since the beginning of Ramadhan (fasting month) due to smooth supply.

"Red chili price dropped to Rp10 thousand," one trader at Sungai Geringging Market, Dedi (30) said on Thursday.

Now the average of trader in selling local red chili is Rp24 thousand per kilogram or goes down from the previous price at Rp34 thousand.

The decrease of chili price due to there is such supply from Medan.

Even the price of more severe cayenne previously sold at Rp60 thousand, it fell to Rp22 thousand per kilogram.

Then the onion price also fell from Rp26 thousand to Rp24 thousand per kilogram, while garlic from Rp32 thousand fell to Rp20 thousand.

"The decrease of onion price occured due to the abundant supply from supplier area namely Alahan Panjang Solok District, and Padang Panjang. Whereas garlic is caused by the smoothness of transportation," he explained. (cha)
