W Sumatra Residents Share in Stock Exchange Reached Rp777.5 Billion

Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) representative of Padang, West Sumatra, recorded the total assets of citizens of the province's origin in the stock exchange market reached Rp777.5 billion until April 30, 2018.

"Since January 2018, the number of investors with West Sumatra ID card had reached 9,770 or it increased 1,046," Head of Indonesia Stock Exchange representative of Padang, Early Saputra stated in here, Monday.

According to him, most investors come from Padang, Tanah Datar, Bukittinggi and Agam.

He mentioned at this time the number of West Sumatra residents who invest in the stock market is only 0.17 percent of the total population of West Sumatra as much as 5.6 million people.

"It means that investment opportunities that can be boosted are still very wide," he noted.

Therefore, IDX is targeting a new investor increase to 4,800 this year.

"We continue to socialize to the campuses through capital market investment gallery which is driven by IDX and a number of securities companies," he said.

IDX held a number of activities to attract people interested in investing money in the capital market.

"Previously, we have purchased shares together with Aakses Card at IAIN Batusangkar Sharia Investment Gallery by recruiting 74 new investors," he pointed out.

In line with that, the Financial Services Authority (OJK) of West Sumatra invites people to invest in the capital market to take advantage of opportunities offered by Capital Market industry.

"People can invest funds and take advantage in capital market through stock instruments, retail bonds or ORI, mutual funds and other securities instruments," Chief Executive Officer of West Sumatra OJK, Darwisman added. (cha)
