Padang (ANTARA) - The city of Padang has a variety of tourist destinations that can be offered to tourists during the day, but at night tourists do not have many choices, said the Chairman of the DPD Association of Indonesian Flight Ticket Sales Companies (Astindo) W Sumatra Nasirman Chan.
"It can be said that there are no arts and cultural attractions in Padang at night so tourists have little choice," he said in Padang on Saturday.
He said the local government must be able to package arts and cultural attractions that can perform regularly during the day and night, like in Bali.
Thus, he said, travel service companies can also sell attractive tour packages at night to tourists.
During this experience, according to him, tourists want to enjoy the atmosphere of the night in the city of Padang, but not much can be offered to them.
Chairperson of the W Sumatra Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) Maulana Yusran said the opportunity to make art and cultural attractions at night was wide open because of the large number of arts groups in the area.
During this time, he said, the only people who could see the Minangkabau cultural arts were government guests, while tourists who came independently seemed not served.
"It's a shame that we have great potential, but only for government guests. "It is better for the studio and arts group to be directed to hold performances for tourists in general both day and night," he said.
Head of Marketing for Padang City Tourism Office Jonie Nursyamza said that arts and cultural attractions for tourists at night are also a concern of the Padang City Government.
He said he had tried to use the Simpang Kinol area of Kota Tua for the night attraction, but there was a refusal, especially from the management of illegal parking that came from local residents.
In the future, he said, other locations that are considered suitable for tourist attractions at night will be explored again, one of the possibilities is in the Cultural Park in Padang, which is currently in the process of being worked on.
