Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - A group of legislators of Commission IX of the House of Representatives (DPR) reviewed hajj services at the Tabing Hajj Boarding facility or embarkation point here on Tuesday.

At the Hajj Boarding House, the 18-member legislator troupe was welcomed by Rosman Effendi, head of the West Sumatra Religious Service office; Merry Yustiesday, head of the local health service; and other local government officials.

Commission IX Chairman Ermalena said her party will directly oversee the hajj services at the Padang embarkation point, especially in the health sector.

She said that currently, over 60 percent of would-be hajj pilgrims were facing high health risks.

"We want to ensure whether the service provided to them is in accordance with the regulated procedures," she remarked.

She noted that Commission IX had laid emphasis on ensuring good health of Indonesian pilgrims performing their hajj rituals.

She also expressed hope that all would-be hajj pilgrims are registered in the National Health Insurance (JKN) program, with a Health Indonesia Card. Thus, any health problems could be handled soon.

A total of 6,367 would-be pilgrims will depart through Padang's embarkation in 2018 aboard 17 flights.

"Of the 6,367 people, some 4,646 come from West Sumatra and 1,641 from Bengkulu and were accompanied by 80 hajj officials," she remarked.

In addition to discussing hajj services, Commission IX also had the opportunity to directly review the existing health clinic at the Haji Tabing Dormitory.
