Padang (ANTARA) - The Government of Padang City recommended two tourist destinations to welcome tourists who come on vacation at the end of the year during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We recommended two tourist destinations to fill the year-end holidays, namely Air Manis Beach and Gunuang Padang area, "said Head of the Padang Tourism Office, Arfian in Padang, Monday.
Both places are recommended because they have been named as COVID-19 adaptive tourist destinations before.
He said that Air Manis Beach which is managed by a third party, as well as the Gunuang Padang area which is a paid tour, has implemented health protocols to handle COVID-19 in a firm and strict manner.
Such as wearing masks, washing hands, and restricting visitors as a policy of maintaining distance.
In addition, what differentiates COVID-19 adaptive destinations is the availability of facilities and infrastructure to support the implementation of health protocols, one of which is a place to wash hands.
"Thus, at least visitors can feel safe and not anxious when traveling," he explained.
When asked about the Padang Beach area, he said that because of its nature as an open destination, it is difficult to restrict visitors.
However, to ensure that tourism activities run safely, the Padang City Government has formed a security team during the year-end holiday.
"Officers will supervise the implementation of health protocols, such as wearing masks and maintaining distance," he explained.
For tourists who come without wearing a mask, he stressed that both at recommended destinations and those who are not, tourists are still told to go home.
"This firm action was taken to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus and prevent the emergence of new clusters," he said.
The Padang City Government also takes firm action to traders or business actors in tourist attractions.
The Government continued to urge all people who come to comply with health protocols based on self-awareness.
